How can I
save my money?
If you are able to save but just don't want to use a bank, we're a safe
local option. We don't play the stock market and because we're covered
by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme your money is always 100%
safe.
Your savings can help your neighbours to access affordable loans to buy
school uniforms, get a new washing machine or fix a leaky pipe. And any
surplus we make is given back to you as a dividend.
It's a no-cost way to give something really useful back to your local
community.
Saving is
easy.
You can pay your wages, salary or benefit payments directly into your
Savings' Account at the WFCCU, or you can pay in via
cash, cheque, or
bank standing order.
And while we'd like to see you saving regularly, you can pay in as much
or as little as you like, as often as you like, from just £1 upwards.
You can even open additional accounts if you need to save for a wedding,
birthday or other special event or just to help you to budget for
regular bills. These additional accounts won't give you access to loans,
though, in the way a Saving Account will.
Saving is
secure.
The WFCCU is insured against loss by fraud or theft. There's also a
Supervisory Committee to see that all the
rules are strictly followed and at the end of each year we undergo an
independent audit of the books.
All of your savings are 100% protected under
the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
So if, for any reason, the WFCCU were to close down, you'd get all of
your money back. We're also required, by law, to send regular financial
reports to the Financial Services Authority.
Free
Life Assurance
Crucially, we insure your savings for free. Your savings and loan are
protected at no cost to you so that, in the event of your death, your
savings will be doubled and paid out to the
person you nominate and your loan will be paid off so that your family
doesn't inherit your debt.
