What is a Credit Union?
A Credit Union is a kind of financial cooperative, run mostly by volunteers, where people either save their money and get a dividend back once a year or borrow money when they need to at very low rates of interest or both. In order to become a member of this Credit Union, you need to be able to show that you live, work or worship in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
Like any financial institution, we are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority so all money is completely secure. We even give free life assurance on your savings which are doubled in the event of your death and pay off any loan you might have outstanding.
We've Moved Again!
From Monday 25th January, your credit union can be found at 4 Church Hill, Walthamstow, London E17 3AG (formerly the Council's Cash Office). Download map
New Loan Policy
Your credit union has just made it easier for you to get a loan!
Benefit Recipients
We continue to help benefit recipients through our encouragement of on-going savings geared towards improving your long-term financial standing. Of course you can apply for loans too!
Annual General Meeting
The next AGM will be held on Wednesday 24th March 2010. This is your opportunity to meet the team of volunteer Directors who run the Credit Union and to find out what next year’s plans are. You should also submit in advance any questions you may wish to ask so that we can make sure someone is able to answer them properly!
